What is Broadband?
Broadband is a kind of Internet connection. This connection can allow multiple users to access Internet information at extremely high speeds. High-speed (or high data rate) means you will be able to navigate large websites and enjoy multimedia-rich applications such as streaming audio at significantly higher speeds than dial-up access.

Additionally, broadband connections are “always-on” so you don't have to waste time dialing in. As soon as the computer boots up, you are connected to the service and can begin working!

What does Download and Upload mean?
There are two directions information travels on a broadband connection. "Download" refers to information going from the Internet to your computer, like when a new web page is loaded. "Upload" refers to information traveling from your computer to the Internet, like the mouse-click that tells a web page where you'd like to go next. While most high-speed connections have a significantly higher download than upload. Walkabout Communications connections are synchronous. This means the download and the upload are set to the same transfer rate.

What does Burstable mean?
Your Internet traffic (in/out) can burst up to speeds for short periods of time during the day without traffic being limited to that specified in your contract. This added flexibility means that you can temporarily send and receive larger bandwidth requirements without your needing to purchase more bandwidth for intermittent peaks.

How does the installation work?
Installation consists of installing our equipment on the top of your residence or building. We run outdoor rated category 5 ethernet cable to your router. If coming through an exterior wall, we will install a wall jack and face plate. A patch cable will then connect to your router or single computer.
